We invite you to tour our state-of-the-art early learning centre and experience our specialised play-based learning programs, active community engagement and sustainability programs, and high-quality educational resources.
At Freo Kids, learning within the outdoor environment is a natural extension of our indoor classrooms and children develop a deep connection with, and care for, the natural environment.
Our outdoor learning environments are rich and diverse, prepared with natural rocks, edible gardens, fruit trees, mud kitchens, sand and water play, lambs, chickens, rabbits, birds, worm farms, and luscious plants. Freo Kids are active environmental custodians.
Our talented early childhood educators encourage children to embark on a journey of discovery as they utilise STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills to question, explore, take risks, observe and connect with nature.
Meet Our Centre Director – Leeanne Rough
My name is Leeanne and I have worked in the early childhood education sector for twenty years. I love being active and playing sport, spending time with my family and friends and visiting new places.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and believe that all children should be given the best education possible. This is why I chose a career in early years education.
I love focusing on the “hidden curriculum” that a child brings to their day as well as providing opportunities beyond traditional classroom learning. I strive to provide children a curriculum that gives them opportunities to learn from their environment, educators, families and community.
I look forward to welcoming your family to our beautiful new early learning centre here in Kelmscott!
“Children have a natural affinity towards nature, they are drawn towards earth, sand, water, trees, plants and small animals” (Moore & Wong, 1997)
